Tampere University, Finland

Tampere University is a merger of the former University of Tampere and the Tampere University of Technology (as of 01/01/2019). This new foundation-based university is also the majority shareholder of Tampere University of Applied Sciences and together these two institutions form a multidisciplinary community in higher education with competitive edges in technology, health and society.

With its seven Faculties and some 19,000 students, Tampere University is the second largest university in Finland. It is Finland's biggest provider of higher education in the field of social sciences and the accompanying administrative sciences. In addition, it has the strongest research capacity on public administration in Finland.

Higher Education Group (HEG) is a teaching and research unit focusing on themes related to governance, management and financing of higher education, research and innovation both at the institutional and system level. HEG is operating within the structure of Faculty of Management and Business, which brings together the disciplines of politics, business, administration, and industrial and information management.

In addition to MARIHE programme HEG offers doctoral education and Finnish non-degree programme as continuing education for administrators and managers working in higher education sector. In addition, HEG offers tailored training for the personnel of higher education sector in Finland and abroad (especially in Sub-Saharan Africa and China).
