Erasmus Mundus Full Scholarships

(This information is valid for student intakes 2025, 2026, 2027, 2028.) 

Amount of Scholarship:

  • The Erasmus Mundus scholarship is calculated as: EUR 1,400 / month x duration of the Master programme (in months).
  • This means, the maximum amount of the Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the participation in MARIHE as a scholarship holder is EUR 33,600.

Coverage & Requirements:

  • Scholarships contribute to travel, visa, installation, and subsistence costs calculated on a monthly unit cost basis for the entire period needed to complete the study programme
  • This period covers study, research, placement activities, thesis preparation and defence in line with joint Master requirements
  • Scholarships can only be awarded in full to full-time students for the entire Master programme duration (max. 24 months)
  • Open to students from all over the world

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Students with previous EMJM scholarships cannot apply for additional funding. In case of false declarations, the student has to reimburse all scholarships unduly paid and the participation fee of EUR 18 000
  • Mandatory physical mobility: minimum two study periods in two different countries (at least one EU Member State), each minimum 30 ECTS. For MARIHE: Austrian/Finnish residents cannot choose UWK/TAU specialization
  • Students can apply for an EMJM scholarship to any of the Erasmus+ Erasmus Mundus courses of their choice (EMJM catalogue). As of January 2022, there is no more official limit for the number of EMJMD programmes that the students can apply for

Insurance:

  • All scholarship holders (as well as non-scholarship holders) will receive an insurance meeting the minimum requirement for the health and accident insurance coverage of EMJM students. The official document setting out these requirements by EACEA is availabe here
  • MARIHE Consortium registers students with an appropriate insurer (group policy). Policy details will be communicated thereafter via E-Mail to the students
  • Eventual claim management is handled directly between students and insurer (Consortium is not involved)

MARIHE Scholarships

To support students from deprived backgrounds and first-in-family students, MARIHE offers a special scholarship to help cover travel costs for self-funded students who do not receive Erasmus Mundus funding.

Key Details:

  • Maximum 2 scholarships per intake
  • Up to EUR 6,000 per scholarship
  • Only available to self-funded students (those without Erasmus Mundus scholarships)

The MARIHE Scholarship for self-funded students is awarded in commemoration of Dr. Qiang Liu, who was an associate professor at the Institute of International and Comparative Education of Beijing Normal University, and made an invaluable contribution to the MARIHE project during 2012–2019.

Erasmus+ Student Mobility

Self-funded MARIHE students can apply for Erasmus+ student mobility financial aid after being admitted to the programme.

Funding Available For:

  • 2nd semester studies in Finland
  • Internship during studies
  • Post-graduation internship

Amount:

  • EUR 300-400 per month (varies by country where study period or internship takes place)
